Ethereum L2 Starknet aims to decentralize core components of its scaling network

Starknet has laid out its road map to begin decentralizing core components of its Ethereum layer 2 scaling network to defend against censorship and improve robustness. Ethereum layer 2 scaling network Starknet has outlined plans to improve the de central ization of three core components of its zero-knowledge proof rollup solution (ZK-rollup). Speaking exclusively to Cointelegraph, Starknet product manager and blockchain researcher Ilia Volokh outlined the firm's intent to address certain centralized elements of its protocol aimed at defending against censorship and making its system more robust. Starknet operates as a validity rollup using zero-knowledge proof technology to bundle transactions into rollups, with cryptographic proofs submitted to Ethereum to achieve security and finality for layer 2 transactions.  According to Volokh, Starknet’s protocol remains dependent on StarkWare for creating L2 blocks, computing proofs and initiating layer 1 state updates to the Ethereum ...

Matter Labs steps back as zkSync launches ecosystem portal managed by DappRadar

The launch brings Matter Labs one step closer to its goal of complete decentralization for the zkSync protocol. Matter Labs recently announced the launch of a new ecosystem portal for zkSync, managed by DappRadar, in what both partners are calling a step towards fully decentralizing the protocol.  zkSync is a layer-two blockchain for Ethereum payments. It was created by Matter Labs as a method for scaling the Ethereum blockchain ecosystem. It currently boasts more than 200 projects and, according to the protocol’s website, has served more than 8.8 million testnet transactions. Meet zkSync's new ecosystem portal Starting today, you can explore the universe of dapps on zkSync with the new ecosystem portal managed by @DappRadar, which Features dapps’ key metrics, rankings, and more. $26M ETH bridged: ConsenSys completes public launch of zkEVM Linea

ConsenSys’ Ethereum scaling network Linea is now fully public, having processed over three million transactions and bridging $26 million in Ether. ConsenSys has completed the launch of its Ethereum scaling rollup Linea, onboarding over 150 partners and bridging more than $26 million in Ether (ETH) to date. Linea went live with select partners onboarded to the alpha mainnet in July 2023, allowing developers to migrate existing decentralized applications (DApps) from Ethereum’s mainnet or other scaling solutions. The zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM) is a layer-2 scaling solution that provides lower transaction costs and higher throughput for DApps running in the Ethereum ecosystem. Cointelegraph spoke exclusively to Linea senior product manager Declan Fox to unpack major milestones since the zkEVM’s launch. Fox highlighted Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin’s belief that zero-knowledge rollups (ZK-rollups) would prove crucial in the operation of the wider Ethereum ecosy...
